What does being alive mean to me?
I don’t want to spend too much words on a topic that is about lived experience. In short... I believe we need to get out, be physical and go after real and alive experiences. Use our bodymind to explore the depth there is.

In short... I believe we need to get out, be physical and go after real and alive experiences. Use our bodymind to explore the depth there is.
In a world that continuously grows disconnected from the environment we live in, in a world where community is mainly found on the internet and where experiences are centred around physical inactivity, I feel the like the need for engaging the physical world, experiencing through our body, with all of our senses is more important than ever.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe it is the greatest time to be alive and I am forever grateful. But this world comes with its own challenges.
We have the ability to choose how to spend the time we have on this planet and unfortunately mostly this leads to a unconscious choice of the easy path, not realising that this way we deny ourself all meaning.
As a wise man once said: With great power, comes great responsibility. ;)
The ultimate power is our conscious choice.
We loose depth and quality, due to abundance. We loose growth and self confidence, due to comfort. We loose meaning due to a loss of commitment.
We loose perspective of what is impotent and are overwhelmed by trivialities that fight for our attention.
Our perceived problems grow so big we can’t deal but mostly they tend to be in our head, blown out of proportion due to a lack of direction and focus that would give us the perspective needed.
We try to exist, but rarely look for what makes us feel truly alive, curious and engaged.
To me being alive means to start live the life we want to live, through choosing consciously. To be present and experience life with all of its beauties and dificulties. To choose meaning over comfort. To engage life, to feel, to practice. To create meaningful memories, to live a life that in the end, written down, would be a great story.
With all that said… the only thing that matters is what we do.
I don’t know about you but I know that I will keep creating the life I want, giving it meaning through my direction and the choices I make.
Open and brave, confronting whatever comes my way, keeping perspective. Knowing what is important to me and acting accordingly. Thriving to grow continuously welcoming challenges that come my way, for I know this is what it is all about.
Lets confront the world, be alive, be physical and dare to be the good in this world...
I will leave you with this quote I really like.
“So, instead of looking for hope, try this:
Don't hope. Don't despair, either.
In fact, don't deign to believe you know anything. It's that assumption of knowing with such blind, fervent, emotional certainty that gets us into these kinds of pickles in the first place. Don't hope for better. Just be better. Be something better. Be more compassionate, more resilient, more humble, more disciplined. [...] Be a better human.” ― Mark Manson, Everything is fucked.
